After a hugely successful inaugural event last year, The Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London opens its doors again for another evening of exciting boxing action on Wednesday 16th June 2010.
The elegant Mountbatten Room is the venue for a stylish mixture of cuisine and boxing with a black tie fine-dining experience as boxers representing the British Armed Forces square off against boxers from the London Police and other Security services representing the highly-regarded Fitzroy Lodge in Lambeth.
The Fitzroy Lodge in Lambeth was opened in 1908 to provide a sporting outlet for young people in London living in extreme poverty. Over a hundred years on, the Fitzroy Lodge is still helping youngsters on the fringe of social exclusion.
Event guests will dine in elegant surroundings as The Forces boxers in the Blue corner and Fitzroy Lodge boxers in the Red pummel each other over a series of three 2-minute round bouts that will be contested under the rules of the Amateur Boxing Association.
The evening starts with a no-host drinks reception in the Club’s Committee Room prior to guests being invited to cross through the rotunda to the Mountbatten Room where a superb three-course dinner with wine will be served. The action starts with team introductions, followed by the bouts, a short interval, and then a short auction to raise funds to support the Fitzroy Lodge boxing programme and their work with disadvantaged Lambeth youth.
The Royal Automobile Club, which in 2007 celebrated 100 years of its Royal title awarded by King Edward VII, is an exclusive private members' club and provides a unique and unforgettable setting for this black tie boxing dinner. |
